Training Courses

Training At Compumotor Training Courses are intensive three-day and four-day training seminars that are held at Compumotor in Rohnert Park, California. Customized, hands-on training is achieved through application examples, programming assignments and lab days. Every course includes literature and software. To enroll in a Training Course, please return either the Training Request or Registration form above filled out via email emn_support@parker.com, fax 707-584-3793, or call 800-358-9070. Compumotor's Applications Engineering Manager will contact you to provide you with more information and to help plan your travel schedule and accommodations.


Specifics

  • Training Courses are held at Compumotor in Rohnert Park, CA.
  • Class sizes are limited to maximize their effectiveness.
  • Minimum of 4 students per class.
  • Students are responsible for travel and accommodations. Special hotel rates have been negotiated and can be arranged through Compumotor.
  • Costs: $250/day/customer (Free for Parker ATCs and Reps).
  • Costs include materials, software and manuals.
  • Payment is required in advance.

ACR Programmer's Training Course This course is based on Compumotor's multi-axis ACR controllers that are capable of controlling both servo and step motor systems. Through hands-on exercises, students will learn to work within the ACR-View software environment, develop ACR code, apply hardware features and the EPL interface. The ACR9000 and OEM servo drives will be used unless other arrangements are made. The class is focused on programming issues. Materials include ACR-View software and necessary hardware and software manuals.


Compax3 Programmer's Training Course
This course is based on Compumotor's single-axis Compax3 controller/drives that are capable of controlling servo motors. Through hands-on exercises, students will learn to work within the Servo Manager and CoDeSys software environments, develop IEC61131-3 code and apply hardware features. The class is focused on programming issues. Materials include software and necessary hardware and software manuals.

6K Programmer's Training Course This course is based on Compumotor's multi-axis 6K controller that's capable of controlling both servo and step motor systems. Through hands-on exercises, students will learn to work within the Motion Planner software environment, develop 6K code and apply hardware features. The 6K4 and OEM drives will be used unless other arrangements are made. The class is focused on programming issues. Both servo and stepper drives will be used. Elective lectures include: Following, PLC Scan Mode, Multitasking, CompuCam, Contouring, Servo Tuning and Tuning Theory, and Motor Sizing and Selection. Materials include the Motion Planner software and 6K software and hardware manuals.


Advanced 6K Training Course
This class is available to both end users, as well as distributors. The 6K controller and OEM series of drives will be used unless other arrangements are made. Topics include following, CAM Following, Compiled Motion, Contouring, Multitasking, Ethernet, and Data Tables. Prior experience with 6000 or 6K language is required; basic programming techniques and commands will not be covered.


Gemini Programmer's Training Course
This course is specifically designed for users of the revolutionary new Gemini GV6/GT6 controller/drive. It allows students to review applications and participate in hands-on assignments, which highlight the new features of the Gemini drive and controller. Considerable time will be spent learning and working with the GV6/GT6 language. Students will work extensively with Compumotor's Motion Planner software. Elective lectures include: Servo Tuning, Registration, Compiled Motion, and Motor Sizing and Selection. Materials include the Motion Planner software and GV6/GT6 software and hardware manuals.



Workshops

Workshops Workshops are self-contained product training presentations that are held at your local Automation Technology Center (ATC). Lecture time is kept to a minimum so that instructors can emphasize and students may focus on hands-on training. If you would like more information on when and where these workshops will be conducted in your area, please contact your local Automation Technology Center.

6K Programmer's Workshop
This workshop is based on Compumotor's 6K multi-axis controller that's capable of controlling both servo and step motor systems. Through hands-on exercises, students will learn to work within the Motion Planner software environment, develop 6K code and apply hardware features. The 6K4 and OEM drives will be used unless other arrangements are made. The class is focused on programming issues. Both servo and stepper drives will be used.


6K Technician's Workshop
This workshop is based on Compumotor's 6K multi-axis controller that's capable of controlling both servo and step motor systems. Through hands-on exercises, students will learn to work within the Motion Planner software environment, troubleshoot 6K code, and install hardware. The 6K4 controller along with OEM and Gemini drives will be used unless other arrangements are made. The class is focused on installation and maintenance issues. Both servo and stepper drives will be used.


Gemini Programmer's Workshop
This course is specifically designed for users of the revolutionary new Gemini drive. It allows students to review applications and participate in hands-on assignments which highlight the new features of the Gemini drive and 6K controller. Considerable time will be spent learning and working with the GV6/GT6 language. Students will work extensively with Compumotor's Motion Planner software.


Dynaserv Workshop
This workshop discusses applications and different configurations of Compumotor's direct drive servo product line.

In-House engineering rate structure:
(Services performed at a Parker location.)

  • Standard Time $95/Hour
    • Overtime (>8 hours/day) $142.50/Hour
    • Premium Overtime (>12 hours/day) $190/Hour
    • Travel Time (overtime rates may apply) $65/hour
    • Saturday Rate 1.5X standard rates
    • Sunday and Holiday Rate 2X standard rates
  • Emergency Rate 2X above standard rates (< 48-Hour Notice)
  • All non-Parker equipment, beyond typical equipment needed (e.g. non-Parker amplifiers), will need to be provided by customer. This includes wiring harnesses, wiring diagrams, atypical power supplies, etc.
  • If a quote is generated after a specification is generated by Parker, the time for generating that specification is billable whether the quote is accepted or not.
  • Payment Terms: After approval, 30 day net. If approval cannot be obtained in a timely manner, we will invoice weekly with payment due Net 10 days (unless otherwise specified on Contract/P.O.)


On-Site Engineering / Support rate structure:
(Services performed at a customer's location.)

  • Standard Time $120/Hour (1 Day minimum when traveling out of state.)
    • Overtime (> 8 hours/day) $180.00/Hour
    • Premium Overtime (>12 hours/day) $240/Hour
    • Travel Time (overtime rates may apply) $60/hour
    • Saturday Rate 1.5X standard rates
    • Sunday and Holiday Rate 2X standard rates
  • Emergency Rate 2X above rates (< 48-Hour Notice)
  • Minimum total charge (not including travel time) $1,000.00
  • Expenses: All travel expenses are the responsibility of the customer and will be billed at cost.
  • If a quote is generated after a specification is generated by Parker, the time for generating that specification is billable whether the quote is accepted or not.
  • Once the engineer arrives at the site, regardless if the equipment is ready for work to begin or not, the billing time will begin.
  • Payment Terms: After approval, 30 day net. If approval cannot be obtained in a timely manner, we will invoice weekly with payment due Net 10 days (unless otherwise specified on Contract/P.O.)
